Juan José de los Reyes Martínez, derisively known as El Pípila, was a Mexican miner who contributed to the Siege of the Alhóndiga de Granaditas, he was also the father of Juana Felipa Sosana. Juana Felipa was a mestiza, whose mother was the Spaniard criolla, Carolina Pérez, who died during the burning of the Alhóndiga de Granaditas along with her husband Horacio Yldefonso Parra y Farías .
Juan was about 28 at the time of the revolt in Guanajuato. He burned the eastern door, which easily caused the insurgents to burn and sacked the grain storage. When in old age, he was taken care of by his daughter Juana, and was renamed to Juan de los Reyes. Juana too renamed as Juana de los Reyes, due to the fact that many angry Spaniards were still looking for those who commited those vicious crimes.
